The Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center is dedicated to the preservation of History, Arts, Culture and Language of the Anishinaabe people – Ojibwe, Odawa and Potawatomi Nations. The Center fulfills this mission through programs, exhibitions, educational teachings and special events.
Our History
The Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center began in 1989 as the Nokomis Learning Center. This non-profit was started by a dedicated group of individuals. Their purpose was to preserve the History, Culture, Arts and Language of the Anishinaabe people of the Great Lakes Region. In 2019, we changed our name to The Nokomis Cultural Heritage Center.
Our Values
At our core, we strive to uphold the teachings of the 7 Grandfathers, as is taught in Anishnaabe culture.
